Collection: Multifunctional Objects

Following the completion of her MA in 2021, Amy has developed a process-led practice rooted in historical craftsmanship and material exploration. Her latest collection of contemporary jewellery and ceramic sculpture combines traditional making with innovative design, creating multifunctional objects that exist as both wearable jewellery and decorative ceramics.
Drawing inspiration from the art of chain making and the Japanese ceramic carving technique of Kurinuki, Amy creates sculptural stoneware vessels that celebrate the relationship between craftsmanship, function and form. Each vessel is carefully carved from a solid block of stoneware clay using the Kurinuki method, resulting in unique textures and organic forms. Every ceramic piece is paired with a handcrafted item of silver or copper jewellery, designed to complement the vessel while becoming an integral part of the finished object.
This collection explores the connection between the body, the home and the objects we cherish. By blurring the boundaries between wearable jewellery and decorative ceramics, Amy invites the wearer to interact with each piece in multiple ways. Jewellery can be removed from its ceramic counterpart, worn throughout the day, and returned to its place within the sculpture, creating a seamless transition between personal adornment and interior object. Whether displayed together or experienced separately, both the jewellery and ceramic pieces retain their individual beauty and significance.
Among the highlights of the collection are the Ring Pots - handcrafted ceramic jars topped with silver and copper lids that double as rings. Another standout series, the Stack of Stacks, features four stackable stoneware vessels, each containing a coordinating silver ring. Worn individually or layered together, the rings create their own sculptural stack while maintaining a lasting connection to the ceramic forms from which they originate.
Amy's work results in timeless pieces that bridge sculpture, function and personal adornment.
