2016
My first project of 2016 was a large window installation with ‘The Window of Opportunity’, an empty window space connected to the bar Nation of Shopkeepers, right in Leeds city centre. I had never done an installation before, but transforming my cement ‘bunch’ style into large scale was an exciting challenge. Salvaged steel chain connected the cement bunches together and allowed them to hang from custom made plinths I scrambled together.
I continued to work from my studio space in Sheffield, eventually joining forces with jeweller Emmie Ball to create my first communal studio - The Jewellery Business. We hosted several events that year, including an exhibition in Bank Street where I displayed jewellery and the installation pieces, and pop-up shops in Sheffield's Winter Gardens.
Also that year, an opportunity to be in Vogue magazine popped up. Three issue coverage to promote my work and really just fulfill a childhood dream of seeing my designs on such famous printed pages. I continued to promote my work through shows like, Sheffield Millenium Galleries and Lustre, and began to work with galleries such as The Craft Centre and Design Gallery in Leeds, who would later become such a huge part of my career.
